2011 Black Friday Sales
The day after Thanksgiving is one of, if not, the biggest shopping day of the entire year. It officially triggers the holiday shopping season. Shoppers are getting ready the holidays and they need to buy gifts for family and friends. Or, they may just want something for themselves. No matter what type of gift they need, some retailer is bound to have it on sale on what is known as “Black Friday.”
Black Friday sales happen at most retailers across the nation. They usually put out an advertisement that is sent out before Thanksgiving. Often, the stores will have what they call “doorbuster deals.” These are limited time only and are for a couple hours. This is to draw the shoppers into the store. On Black Friday, shoppers start lining up outside the store’s doors early in the morning. Some people even get there the night before. Most stores open their door’s between 3 and 5 a.m.
It is a good idea to get in line early if there is a specific product that you want to buy. Stores usually have limited quantities, so being in the door quickly when they open in key. People run for items that are really discounted. Make sure to wear comfortable clothing and close-toed shoes. It is also a good idea to have a friend with you. This way, if there is more than one item you want to find, you can look for one, while your friend search for the other. Often, shoppers want to hit more than one store on Black Friday. Planning what stores you go to ahead of time will be beneficial.
In 2010 there were many great deals going on during Black Friday. Usually, the biggest sellers are electronics such as video game consoles, flat-screen televisions, computers, and Blu-Ray players. Stores such as Wal-Mart, Target, and Best Buy have these items on sale during Black Friday. What they will do is offer a TV or computer at a really low, almost too good to be true, price. But, the catch is, they will only have about ten or twenty in stock. They will have other similar items on sale, but for not as cheap of a price. It is good to be smart and don’t fall for their tactics. You really want to consider what you are buying and whether it is truly a good deal or not. If you are smart, you can get all of your holiday shopping done on Black Friday and save hundreds of dollars.
One popular item during Black Friday in 2010 was the Wii gaming system. Most stores sold it as bundle that came with a controller and two games. The Wii is still a very popular gaming system; however, this year, during the 2011 Black Friday sales, there will be more demand for the Xbox 360 Kinect package. This is a newer system that many people are looking to by for their families to play.
Since last year’s sales, Blu-Ray players have increased in popularity, and decreased in price. Because of this, more retailers will be offering them in the Black Friday sales. More and more movies are being released in the Blu-Ray format, so now is a good time to buy one, especially if it is a good deal.
Overall, the 2011 Black Friday Sales will be a great opportunity to shop for holiday gifts or to treat yourself for a year of hard work. As long as you plan your shopping trip ahead, get in line early, and use the buddy system you are sure to score some awesome deals.
